Dynarrestin is a molecule that inhibits the phosphorylation of microtubule-associated proteins, causing them to bind irreversibly to the microtubule and preventing its polymerization. Dynarrestin binds to microtubules in cells, inhibiting their function and leading to cell death. It has been shown that dynarrestin can inhibit cancer cell proliferation and survival by binding to the regulatory domains of molecules involved in cellular processes. Dynarrestin also inhibits endocytosis, which is a process by which cells take up nutrients from the extracellular space. This inhibition leads to increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and activation of pro-apoptotic pathways. Dynarrestin also binds to kinesin, an enzyme that transports cargo within cells. Dynarrestin's interaction with kinesin prevents transport of cargo along microtubules, effectively blocking cell division.
