Description

Oroselol is a coumarin derivative that inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins and is used to treat inflammatory skin diseases. Oroselol has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in animal studies, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. This drug also has shown anti-inflammatory effects in humans with atopic dermatitis. The mechanism of action for oroselol is not fully understood but it is believed that it acts by inhibiting the release of epidermal growth factor (EGF). Oroselol also has been found to lower blood pressure, which may be due to its ability to inhibit nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activity.
