Gua 1654 is a natural product that acts as a regulator of cell proliferation. Gua 1654 inhibits receptor-mediated cellular proliferation by inhibiting the extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) pathway, which is involved in the regulation of gene transcription. In addition, this compound can inhibit cancer cell growth and tumor formation through inhibition of the phosphorylation of signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) 3. Gua 1654 has also been shown to inhibit factor κb (NF-κB), which regulates the expression of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6. This may be related to its anti-inflammatory properties, as it was shown to have cardioprotective effects in animal models.
