Description

Segesterone is a plant-derived secondary metabolite. It is a steroidal lactone that is structurally related to the progesterone molecule. Segesterone has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, and may also have antifungal and anticancer effects. The compound was first isolated from the plant Selaginella tamariscina in the late 1960s.
