• Description: 1-Octyl-3-methylimidazolium hydrogen sulfate is an extractant that is activated by a catalyst. It is used for the separation of organic and inorganic compounds, such as carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, amino acids, vitamins, and other organic molecules. 1-Octyl-3-methylimidazolium hydrogen sulfate has been shown to be more efficient than traditional extractants and may be reused several times. The product also has high hydrophobic properties and is therefore often used for desulfurization reactions. The 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium hydrogen sulfate extraction process is considered to be a sustainable process with low energy consumption and no need to regenerate the solvent. This process can also be applied to biodiesel production by removing sulfur from the raw materials.
