2-(1-Ethyl-3-methyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)quinoline-4-carboxylic acid is a pyridine compound that is structurally similar to the natural product guanylate. It has been shown to act as a soluble guanylate cyclase activator, which increases the intracellular levels of guanosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate (cGMP). This compound may be effective in treating inflammatory diseases and cancer. The antiinflammatory effects of this drug are due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis by inhibiting the activity of cyclooxygenase enzymes.
