Description

Milfasartan is a drug that belongs to the class of angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It binds to and blocks the AT1 receptor, which is found in many tissues including vascular smooth muscle cells, renal epithelial cells, and adrenal cortical cells. Milfasartan has been shown to have cytotoxic potency in cancer cell lines, such as leukemia and colon cancer. This drug also inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines, including TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8, and MCP-1. Milfasartan has been shown to be effective in clinical trials for high cholesterol, as well as pharmacological treatment for various inflammatory diseases such as bowel disease or heart disease.
