Methyl 2-amino-4-chloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)benzoate (MTBTB) is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of methyl esters. It has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on cancer cells and is used in chemotherapy. MTBTB inhibits the growth of cancer cells by interfering with DNA synthesis and cell division, which causes the death of the cancer cells. This compound also has anti-inflammatory properties and has been shown to inhibit bowel disease in animal studies. The mechanism of action involves MTBTB binding to methyl myristate in the membrane, which alters its fluidity, leading to changes in enzyme activities.
