SR59230A is a monoclonal antibody that has been shown to inhibit the activity of the protein uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2). This leads to an increase in cellular energy expenditure, thereby lowering blood pressure and improving metabolic disorders. SR59230A also has anti-inflammatory effects, which may be due to its inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as TNF-α and IL-1β. SR59230A has been shown to reduce the levels of camp, a chemical that regulates metabolism, in mice with type 1 diabetes. SR59230A is being investigated for use in treating cardiac disease and other symptoms related to cardiovascular disease.
