Description

[4-(Aminomethyl)phenyl]guanidine is a synthetic benzylsulfonyl-containing compound that is an inhibitor of the protease kallikrein and has antithrombotic properties. It is used as an anticoagulant, but also has antibacterial effects. This agent can be used to optimize the coagulation process by preventing the activation of clotting factors such as thrombin, leading to inhibition of coagulation-dependent processes. The mechanism of action for this drug is unknown, but it may involve inhibition of kallikrein, which activates blood clotting. This drug has been shown to be effective against bacteria and inhibits the synthesis of bacterial cell wall proteins.
