It has been shown to inhibit the activity of a number of receptor proteins, including the hl-60 cell line. Propyl gallate inhibits the metabolism of glucose by inhibiting enzymes involved in glycolysis, leading to toxicity studies for infectious diseases. This compound also inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species and prevents apoptosis by blocking the MCL-1 protein, which induces cellular death.
