This drug also has an effect on mitochondrial membrane potential and whole-cell recordings in E coli. 1,10-Diaminodecane binds to metal hydroxides, such as aluminum hydroxide, copper hydroxide, and zinc hydroxide. The hydrogen bonding interactions between the amine group of 1,10-diaminodecane and the carboxylate group of the metal ion are strong enough to prevent water molecules from entering into this space and stabilizing the complex.
