It is an enantiopure compound and has been shown to be effective in the treatment of bacterial infections. 6-Fluoro-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-2-methylquinoline inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. 6FLMQ is a chiral molecule with two possible configurations (R or S), which can be determined from x-ray crystallography.
