<p>Ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate is a monomer that is used in the fabrication of polymers. It is an energy-rich compound, with activation energies of 8.1 and 10.2 kcal/mol for the polymerization of ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate and cyclopropane, respectively. Ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate has been shown to be effective in the treatment of colorectal adenocarcinoma cells in vitro and in vivo. The mechanism of action is not completely understood, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis by altering gene expression. Ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate also has been shown to have anti-neuropathic properties such as reduced pain and inflammation when applied topically to a trigeminal nerve lesion in rats.</p>
