• Description: This is a DNA polymerase coated with an antibody, which is suitable for hot start PCR. There is no activity of the enzyme at room temperature, and the antibody can be inactivated rapidly at 70oC or above. In the pre-denaturation step of PCR program, the antibody is completely inactivated. An initial activation step at 95oC is required for activation of the protein. This step denatures antibodies linked to the active center of the enzyme. When the specific antibodies detach from Taq-polymerase, the amplification proceeds with greater specificity; Hot start PCR significantly reduces nonspecific priming, the formation of primer dimers, and often, increases product yields. It offers convenient room temperature reaction setups.; Inhibits Taq polymerase activity at low temperatures. Gets activated on reaching higher temperatures and the initial denaturation step.
