Applications 2-Hydroxy-4-phenylbenzoic acid (CAS# 4482-27-3) is a useful building block used in the synthesis of chromones for use as tyrosine phosphatase inhibitors. Being a salicylic acid, 2-hydroxy-4-phenylbenzoic acid has been proposed for use as an anti-inflammatory drug.
