It is used as an antibacterial agent in coatings and has been shown to have antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria. 5-Amino-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinazoline-2,4-dione has also been found to be active against amines and is a ligand for nitro groups. This compound may be yellow or orange in color due to the presence of phenyl groups.
