1-Amino-1-phenylpropan-2-ol hydrochloride is an enantioselective, chiral amino alcohol that is synthesized by the reaction of aldehydes or ketones with phenylmagnesium bromide. This reaction yields the corresponding amino alcohols in high yields and with excellent enantioselectivity. 1-Amino-1-phenylpropan-2-ol hydrochloride can be used to synthesize various functional groups such as halides, oxazoline, diselenides, sulfonamides and alkenes. It can also be used for catalytic transformations involving other functional groups such as alcohols and alkyl halides.
