7-Deaza-4-Cl-2'-deoxyguanosine is a novel antiviral drug that has been synthesized in the laboratory. It is an analogue of deoxyguanosine, a nucleoside that is found in DNA and RNA. 7-Deaza-4-Cl-2'-deoxyguanosine has anti cancer properties because it inhibits the synthesis of DNA by inhibiting the activity of ribonucleoside reductase, an enzyme that converts ribonucleosides to deoxyribonucleosides.
