    <p>Captan is a fungicide for the control of plant diseases that belongs to the class of chemical substances. Captan inhibits microbial growth by interfering with DNA synthesis and protein synthesis, thereby preventing the production of new cells. Captan has been shown to inhibit specific bacterial growth rates at concentrations as low as 0.001 mg/L, with an inhibitory effect on microbial populations in wastewater and soil. The effect is dose-dependent and occurs when captan is present within the range of 1 μg/mL to 1 g/mL.</p>
