(9Z)-Hexadec-9-enamide is an acetate extract of a healthy plant that is rich in protein and fatty acids. The extract was shown to have no effect on the glucose level of non-diabetic women. It has been reported to inhibit the activity of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and stimulate production of anti-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-10 and IL-1Ra, which may be beneficial in preventing atherosclerosis.
