The drug also affects markers present in cytosolic extracts from muscle cells, such as growth factor-β1 (GF-β1) and cox-1. It has been shown to inhibit cholesterol absorption and promote its excretion through the bile. ASB 14780New also reduces inflammation caused by carbon tetrachloride or an experimental diet rich in cholesterol.
ASB 14780New is being studied for its potential therapeutic effects in Alzheimer's disease, where it may be able to reduce inflammation by targeting senescent cells.
