:Pentano
Descrizione:
Pentano è un alcano a catena lineare con la formula molecolare C5H12, caratterizzato dai suoi cinque atomi di carbonio collegati da legami singoli. È un liquido incolore e infiammabile a temperatura ambiente, con un odore distintivo che ricorda la benzina. Pentano è insolubile in acqua ma solubile in solventi organici, rendendolo utile in varie applicazioni, inclusa come solvente in laboratori e nella produzione di polistirene. Il suo punto di ebollizione è relativamente basso, permettendo una rapida evaporazione, una proprietà sfruttata in alcuni processi industriali. Pentano esiste in tre forme isomeriche: n-Pentano (la forma a catena lineare), isoPentano e neoPentano, ognuna delle quali presenta proprietà fisiche leggermente diverse. A causa della sua volatilità, Pentano è spesso utilizzato come standard di riferimento nella cromatografia gassosa. Inoltre, è un componente del gas naturale ed è prodotto durante la raffinazione del petrolio greggio.
