It is an analog of 2'-deoxyadenosine and inhibits viral DNA synthesis by acting as a chain terminator. 3',5'-Di-O-p-chlorobenzoyl-2'-deoxy a-5-fluorouridine has shown some anticancer activity against human tumor cells in culture, but its mechanism of action is not well understood.
