Eritromicina

Descrizione:
Eritromicina è un antibiotico macrolide che viene utilizzato principalmente per trattare infezioni batteriche. È derivato dal batterio Saccharopolyspora erythraea ed è efficace contro una varietà di batteri Gram-positivi e alcuni Gram-negativi. La struttura chimica di Eritromicina presenta un grande anello di lattone, caratteristico dei macrolidi, insieme a diversi gruppi di zucchero che contribuiscono alla sua solubilità e attività biologica. Eritromicina agisce inibendo la sintesi proteica batterica, impedendo così la crescita e la riproduzione dei batteri. Viene comunemente utilizzato nel trattamento delle infezioni delle vie respiratorie, delle infezioni cutanee e di alcune infezioni sessualmente trasmissibili. Eritromicina è disponibile in varie formulazioni, tra cui compresse orali, unguenti topici e preparazioni endovenose. Sebbene generalmente ben tollerato, può causare effetti collaterali come disturbi gastrointestinali e può interagire con altri farmaci a causa dei suoi effetti sugli enzimi epatici. La resistenza a Eritromicina è stata osservata in alcuni ceppi batterici, il che può limitarne l'efficacia in alcune infezioni.
