Descrizione:
L'ossido di scandio, con la formula chimica Sc₂O₃, è un composto bianco e cristallino che viene utilizzato principalmente in varie applicazioni industriali, tra cui ceramiche, elettronica e come agente drogante nei laser a stato solido. Ha un alto punto di fusione ed exhibit una buona stabilità termica, rendendolo adatto per applicazioni ad alta temperatura. L'ossido di scandio è insolubile in acqua, ma può dissolversi in acidi e basi forti. Il composto è noto per le sue uniche proprietà ottiche, che lo rendono prezioso nella produzione di fosfori e come componente in certi tipi di vetro.
