(+)-UH 232 is a potent and selective inhibitor of the voltage-gated potassium channel Kv1.2. It binds to the extracellular domain of Kv1.2 and blocks ion channels from opening, thereby preventing the propagation of action potentials in excitable cells such as neurons and muscle cells. This drug has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor cells in vitro by blocking potassium channels. (+)-UH 232 may be used as a research tool for studying ion channels and their role in cell biology.
