Decano è un alcano a catena lineare con la formula molecolare C10H22, caratterizzato dai suoi dieci atomi di carbonio e dai corrispondenti atomi di idrogeno. È un liquido incolore e inodore a temperatura ambiente ed è parte della più ampia famiglia degli idrocarburi. Decano è insolubile in acqua ma solubile in solventi organici, rendendolo una sostanza non polare. Il suo punto di ebollizione è relativamente alto rispetto agli alcani più piccoli, riflettendo la sua maggiore dimensione molecolare e le forze di van der Waals aumentate. Funziona come solvente ed è anche utilizzato nella produzione di altri prodotti chimici.
