5-(3-(1-Naphthoyl)-1H-indol-1-yl)pentanoic acid is a synthetic cannabinoid that is used for the treatment of pain, nausea and vomiting. It also has been shown to have antiemetic properties. 5-(3-(1-Naphthoyl)-1H-indol-1-yl)pentanoic acid binds to cannabinoid receptors present in the central nervous system, which may lead to analgesia, sedation and euphoria. This drug is detectable in urine samples and can be detected with immunoassays that are sensitive to cannabinoids such as JWH-018. Gold nanoparticles are being developed as a new way of detecting 5-(3-(1-Naphthoyl)-1H-indol-1-yl)pentanoic acid in urine samples.
