BioE-1115 is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analogue that has been shown to bind to the mineralocorticoid receptor in wild-type mice. It activates the regulatory protein and increases the expression of amp-activated protein, which in turn inhibits target enzymes such as fatty acid synthase, thus reducing fat accumulation. BioE-1115 has also been shown to have a diuretic effect on rats with hepatic steatosis and to increase polymerase chain reaction activity in response to dietary intervention. This drug is not proteolytic, but it does possess a response element that can be activated by an enzyme found in Chinese herbs.
