This drug also inhibits the synthesis of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) and lipoxygenase enzymes. AS 2444697 also inhibits cancer growth by blocking toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling, which is important in tumorigenesis. It binds to the TLR4 receptor, preventing activation of downstream molecules including NF-κB and MAPKs that are involved in tumorigenesis. AS 2444697 has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in an animal model of endometriosis with lower doses than those used in cancer treatment.
