CAS:Calcium hydroxide is a naturally occurring mineral that is used as a source of calcium for food and pharmaceutical products. It has been shown to have antibacterial properties, including inhibiting the growth of infectious bacteria such as Enterococcus faecalis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Calcium hydroxide also reduces the concentration of water vapor in wastewater treatment systems. This chemical also has been shown to inhibit the formation of metal hydroxides by reaction with solutions containing metal ions, such as iron (III) or zinc (II). Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy is an analytical method that can be used to measure the water content in biological samples. The apical surface of teeth can be analyzed using this technique and calcium hydroxide has been shown to have biological properties, including anti-inflammatory effects on dental plaque.
