    <p>The synthesis of 2-{Cyclopentyl[(9H-fluoren-9-ylmethoxy)carbonyl]amino}acetic acid is accomplished through an asymmetric, stereoselective, catalytic route. The first step in the synthesis is conversion of glycine to the corresponding N-protected glycine methyl ester by reaction with benzyl chloroformate followed by protection of both carboxylic acid groups as FMOC derivatives.
