Lepirudina

Lepirudina è un anticoagulante sintetico derivato dalla saliva della sanguisuga medicinale, Hirudo medicinalis. Funziona come un inibitore diretto della trombina, il che significa che si lega alla trombina e ne impedisce la conversione del fibrinogeno in fibrina, inibendo così la formazione di coaguli di sangue. Lepirudina è utilizzato principalmente in contesti clinici per il trattamento di pazienti con trombocitopenia indotta da eparina (HIT), una condizione in cui la terapia con eparina porta a una diminuzione del conteggio piastrinico e a un aumento del rischio di trombosi. La sostanza è caratterizzata dalla sua alta specificità per la trombina, rendendola efficace nella gestione dei disturbi trombotici. Lepirudina viene somministrato tramite iniezione endovenosa, e la sua farmacocinetica include una emivita relativamente breve, necessitando di un attento monitoraggio dei livelli di anticoagulazione nei pazienti. Gli effetti avversi possono includere complicazioni emorragiche, comuni con gli anticoagulanti, e reazioni di ipersensibilità.     Lepirudin acetate salt is a recombinant heparin that inhibits the activity of thrombin, an enzyme that converts fibrinogen to fibrin. Lepirudin acetate salt binds to thrombin and prevents it from binding to its target sites on the fibrinogen molecule. It is used as an anticoagulant in patients with heparin-induced thrombocytopenia. Lepirudin acetate salt has been shown to be effective against hirudin and lepirudin, which are inhibitors of heparins.
