L'idrocloruro di vancomicina è un antibiotico glicopeptidico utilizzato principalmente per trattare infezioni batteriche gravi, in particolare quelle causate da batteri Gram-positivi, inclusi Staphylococcus aureus resistente alla meticillina (MRSA). È caratterizzato dalla sua struttura complessa, che include una serie di aminoacidi e gruppi di zucchero che contribuiscono al suo meccanismo d'azione. La vancomicina agisce inibendo la sintesi della parete cellulare nei batteri, portando infine alla lisi cellulare e alla morte.
