Tolvaptan è un antagonista selettivo del recettore V2 della vasopressina utilizzato principalmente nel trattamento di condizioni come l'iponatremia e la malattia renale policistica autosomica dominante (ADPKD). È una piccola molecola organica caratterizzata dalla sua capacità di inibire l'azione della vasopressina, un ormone che regola la ritenzione di acqua nei reni. Questa inibizione porta a un aumento della produzione di urina e a un successivo aumento dei livelli di sodio sierico.
