Dydrogesterone is a progestin medication that is used to treat symptoms of endometriosis in women. It can be used alone or in combination with estradiol benzoate. Dydrogesterone is not active against bacteria. High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) levels are an indicator of inflammation and have been shown to be elevated in untreated women with endometriosis. Histological analysis of tissue from these patients has revealed increased levels of dydrogesterone. Dydrogesterone binds to the progesterone receptor, which regulates the expression of genes that play a role in cell proliferation and differentiation.
