Ethyl 1-(pyrazin-2-yl)piperidine-4-carboxylate is a diagnostic agent that is used to detect the transcriptional regulation of human genes. It has been shown to be active in the diagnosis of infectious diseases, such as group P2, and in human water vapor. Ethyl 1-(pyrazin-2-yl)piperidine-4-carboxylate inhibits the activity of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) by binding to DNA polymerase, thereby preventing DNA synthesis. This drug also has been shown to have carcinogenic effects in cell lines from carcinoma patients.
