6-Propyl-5,6-dihydro-2H-pyran-2-one belongs to the class of isoquinoline alkaloids. It is found in leguminosae plants and has a strong spectrum of activity against bacteria, viruses and fungi. This compound is also used for the treatment of malaria and as an antihelminthic agent. The index of this substance is unknown, but it has been shown to have a mass spectrum that corresponds with that of prosopis. 6-Propyl-5,6-dihydro-2H-pyran-2-one is semiarid and indehiscent, with volatile fruit.
