BAZ2-ICR is a novel atypical anti-inflammatory cytokine that belongs to the TGF-β superfamily. It is a drug target for protozoan parasites and cancer cells. BAZ2-ICR is an acetylated molecule that has been shown to be biologically active in vitro using cell culture and functional studies. It also has anti-cancer properties against cell lines derived from breast, colon, prostate, lung, and brain cancers. BAZ2-ICR also reduces intestinal inflammation by inhibiting NFκB activation and IL8 production in a mouse model of colitis.

BAZ2-ICR shows 10-15-fold selectivity for binding BAZ2A/B over CECR2 and >100-fold selectivity over all other bromodomains.
