Descrizione:
Josamicina è un antibiotico macrolide che deriva principalmente dalla fermentazione del batterio Streptomyces narbonensis. È caratterizzato dalla sua capacità di inibire la sintesi proteica batterica legandosi alla subunità ribosomiale 50S, impedendo così la crescita di batteri suscettibili. Josamicina mostra un ampio spettro di attività contro vari batteri Gram-positivi e alcuni organismi Gram-negativi, rendendolo efficace nel trattamento di infezioni delle vie respiratorie, infezioni cutanee e alcune malattie sessualmente trasmissibili. Il composto è tipicamente somministrato per via orale ed è noto per le sue favorevoli proprietà farmacocinetiche, inclusa una buona penetrazione nei tessuti e una vita media relativamente lunga. Josamicina è anche notevole per il suo basso profilo di tossicità, che contribuisce al suo uso terapeutico.
