Posaconazolo è un agente antifungino triazolico utilizzato principalmente per la prevenzione e il trattamento delle infezioni fungine, in particolare nei pazienti immunocompromessi. Mostra un ampio spettro di attività contro vari funghi, comprese le specie di Candida e Aspergillus. La struttura chimica di Posaconazolo presenta un anello triazolico, che è cruciale per il suo meccanismo d'azione, poiché inibisce l'enzima lanosterolo 14α-demetilasi, interrompendo la sintesi dell'ergosterolo nelle membrane cellulari fungine.
