CAS:4-Bromocyclopent-1-ene is a peroxide that is used to synthesize isomeric valines. It contains a cyclopentadiene core, which is an alicyclic compound with five carbon atoms. The bromonium ion has a skeleton of four carbon atoms, with two chlorine atoms attached to the same side of the ring. 4-Bromocyclopent-1-ene catalyzes the reaction between hydrogen peroxide and ozone to form 2,2'-dioxygen dibromide and water. 4-Bromocyclopent-1-ene also inhibits bacterial growth by inhibiting enzymes that are involved in the biosynthesis of fatty acids and amino acids, such as valine, leucine, and tryptophan. This molecule also has inhibitory activities against peroxides and stereospecificity for erythrocytes.
