Aptiganel is a research tool that belongs to the class of ligands. It is an inhibitor for ion channels and protein interactions. Aptiganel is a potent inhibitor of the potassium channel Kv1.3, which may be useful in the treatment of epilepsy and other neurological disorders, as well as cardiac arrhythmias. It also binds to GABAa receptors and has been shown to inhibit the release of nitric oxide from neuronal cells in culture. Aptiganel has been shown to increase the sensitivity of tumor cells to radiation therapy by inhibiting tumor cell proliferation.
