Descrizione:
Salbutamolo, noto anche come albuterolo in alcune regioni, è un agonista selettivo dei recettori adrenergici beta-2 utilizzato principalmente come broncodilatatore nel trattamento dell'asma e della broncopneumopatia cronica ostruttiva (BPCO). La sua formula chimica è C13H21NO3 e presenta un gruppo idrossilico fenolico, che contribuisce alla sua attività farmacologica. Salbutamolo agisce stimolando i recettori adrenergici beta-2 nel muscolo liscio delle vie aeree, portando al rilassamento e alla dilatazione dei passaggi bronchiali, migliorando così il flusso d'aria e alleviando i sintomi del broncospasmo. La sostanza viene tipicamente somministrata per inalazione, sebbene siano disponibili anche forme orali e endovenose.
