5,8-Bis(1H-indol-3-yl)-7-methoxy-2,2-dimethylchromen-6-ol is a peptide that is used in research as a cell biology tool. It binds to the receptor site of ion channels and inhibits the flow of ions across the membrane. This may lead to an increase in voltage and/or membrane depolarization. 5,8-Bis(1H-indol-3-yl)-7-methoxy-2,2-dimethylchromen-6-ol also blocks ligand binding to its receptor by competing with the ligand for the same binding site on the receptor. 5,8 bis(1H indol 3yl) 7 methoxy 2 dimethyl chromen 6 ol has been shown to be a good inhibitor of angiotensin II type 1 receptors and acetylcholine receptors.
