CAS:Prodotto controllatoApplications Perylene has been used as an acceptor for pristine C70 to be used as a sensitizer for efficient triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion; which has shown improved stability under continuous laser irradiation compared to the benchmark Pt(II)-ocetaethylprphyrin. Perylene has also been used as a dopant representing blue fluorescent dye on a white-emitting polymer film. Dyes and metabolites.

CAS:Perylene is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon that is used in the synthesis of cationic polymers. It has excellent photochemical properties and a high value for the phase transition temperature (150 °C). Perylene is also chemically stable, with a polymerization chain length of at least 12. The molecule is composed of an acyl chain and an unsaturated group. It reacts with nucleophiles to form adducts and it can be cross-linked by intermolecular hydrogen bonding. Perylene can be synthesized from acetylene, benzene, and formaldehyde in the presence of nitric acid or peroxide. The molecule absorbs light at wavelengths below 300 nm and undergoes transfer reactions to release electrons when exposed to light.
