6-Amino-3-iodo-4-methoxy-1-(beta-D-ribofuranosyl)-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidine is a synthetic nucleoside that has antiviral activity. It is an activator of DNA polymerase and can be used to synthesize DNA and RNA. 6AIOMP binds to the ribonucleotide reductases in cells and inhibits their activity. This prevents the conversion of ribonucleotides into deoxyribonucleotides, which are essential for DNA synthesis.
