(S)-2-Amino-3-methyl-butyric acid (S)-3-(((S)-3-(biphenyl-4-sulfonyl)-thiazolidine-2-carbonyl)-amino)-3-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-propyl ester is an orally administered prodrug that is metabolized to betamethasone. It has been used in clinical studies for the prevention of preterm birth in women with pregnancies at risk for preterm delivery. This drug is also used for the treatment of inflammation and pain. The dose groups were determined based on a concentration–time curve and there have been no reports of cardiac side effects or drug interactions.
