SAHM1

SAHM1 is a growth factor that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor family. It is expressed in response to inflammatory stimuli and has been shown to inhibit cell maturation and induce apoptosis. SAHM1 inhibits the production of epidermal growth factor (EGF) by binding to its receptor, EGF receptor, and blocking its ability to stimulate cell proliferation. SAHM1 is also an intracellular target for γ-secretase inhibitors, which are used to treat Alzheimer's disease, as well as other inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis. Antibodies against SAHM1 have been developed that can be used as therapeutic agents for lymphocytic leukemia and reentry.
